The IMDB data fetching is probably the most required feature for Dvd Hunter. So why i haven’t inserted it yet?
Well extracting data from their website violate the copyright of IMDB, and they can block access to TMDB from your IP if they notice that you’re getting data.
Without paying it’s possible to access only via ftp to the huge plain text files.
Well why i’m not paying the license fro IMDB?
http://www.imdb.com/help/licensing/contact

We offer licensing packages that start at US$15,000 per year.

Mmm a little bit too much expensive…
I also read all the FAQ of license:
http://www.imdb.com/Licensing/FAQ.html

While we are flexible, we supply the majority of our partners with XML data files, retrievable at an ftp site.

I’ve got to provide my OWN web server to be able user to query and load data from IMDB.
If i pay will the users have access to the whole IMDB Database?
No…

We will not license the entire database, though hundreds of thousands of titles is over-kill for most uses.

Ohh 15000$ per year and i can’t access to the whole database…

I don’t want to access IMDB data without their consent, as some software does, but i can’t afford the license. I think it’s a “little” bit overpriced for the offer.
So i’m sorry but i’m not planning to insert IMDB Autocomplete.
